Amendment of the Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG) in effect since September 1, 2009
From now on, anybody losing personal data must automatically inform the affected persons

In order to help you meet all the requirements of the BDSG, our development team has equipped our encryption solution fideAS^® file enterprise with numerous new features – in addition to its tried and tested encryption technology. But fideAS^® file enterprise is not just for those wanting or needing to comply with the BDSG – it is now more valuable than ever for every company dealing with sensitive or confidential data.

In accordance with our philosophy of making every encryption and decryption process as invisible to the user as possible and of constantly improving the quality of the product at the same time, special care was taken to ensure that fideAS^® file enterprise remains easy to integrate into existing IT systems. And its intuitive use renders any user training unnecessary.
One of the major new features – and one that is especially important with regard to the BDSG amendment – is a four-eye principle for the disclosure of particularly sensitive data (i.e. a second authorized person has to agree to the disclosure).

The bottom line is: fideAS^® file enterprise 4.0 is designed to meet the data protection requirements of the BDSG. But that’s by far not all fideAS^® file enterprise has to offer. It is the perfect solution for the responsible protection of any sensitive documents.

Total control – encryption solution now also controls file access

Lucky 13 – Training participants receive certificates as „apsec certified engineers“

On June 30 and July 1 as well as on July 15 and 16, 2009, we hosted technical partner trainings for our product „fideAS^® file enterprise“ at our office in Stockstadt.
During the two days of training, the participants were introduced to the secrets of fideAS^® file enterprise, from the installation of the product to trouble shooting in theory and practice.

We are thrilled to see that our training program was so well received and that we can present 13 new „apsec certified engineers“. This comes to show that in fact, 13 must be a lucky number!

Successful partner events in Regensburg and Nürnberg in Regensburg und Nürnberg

On July 2, 2009, our partner company MediaCircle, together with apsec, hosted the IT Security Forum in Regensburg.
The participants were offered an interesting range of presentations with titles like „Enterprise data protection and the amendment of the Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG)“ and „The seven golden rules of Data Leakage Prevention“.
After the presentations, our head of sales Christiane Schnall (apsec) gave a live demo of our solution fideAS^® file enterprise.
Those interested in doing some sightseeing after the lectures were offered a tour of the historical torture chamber of the town of Regensburg. This opportunity was met with great interest.

On July 24, our partner company proDV Software AG from Nürnberg hosted a symposium with the title „Business processes and information technology under cost pressure “.
apsec contributed to the success of the event with its presentation, „Information security is not just a domain of IT“. After the event, participants were given the opportunity to join the experts to discuss the presented topics further in a relaxed atmosphere.

We want to thank MediaCircle and proDV for the excellent preparation and organization. The events were a great success and we have received a lot of positive feedback.

Management Days in Aschaffenburg – with a focus on information security

The third Management Days in Aschaffenburg took place on September 23, 2009 at the University of Applied Sciences Aschaffenburg under the auspices of Professor Dr. Eberhard Schott. This year, the topic information security was added to the topic outsourcing as a second focus. The event was organized by the University of Applied Sciences Aschaffenburg, the IT‐Netzwerk Bayerischer Untermain and the GI Special Interest Group Software and Services Market.

The topic „Risk management for medium-sized businesses – Technology, Organization, Legislation“ met with great interest on the part of companies from the region and from abroad.
Besides attending the topical presentations, the 80 participants also used the event as a platform for new contacts and for discussions with the speakers.

The University of Applied Sciences Aschaffenburg as a neutral academic institution with a strong practical orientation guaranteed for the high standard of the presentations and selected the perfect topics for the target audience.

The top speakters Reinhard Witzke, auditor and product manager at DQS, Wolfgang Witerzens, KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (provider of audit, tax and advisory services), Stephan Menzemer, lawyer with the partnership Buse Heberer Fromm and Dr. Wolfgang Böhmer, TU Darmstadt provided plenty of material for discussion in their gripping presentations.
In the subsequent discussion round, all questions resulting from the presentations were answered professionally and in depth by Dr. Wolfgang Böhmer, TU Darmstadt / board member of CAST e.V., Marcus Gruyters, owner of Gruyters Consulting, Frank Schlottke, CEO of the Applied Security GmbH and Dr. Bettina Uhlich, managing director of Evonik Services GmbH.

BUD IT hosted IT Security Forum in Annweiler

On September 22, 2009, our partner BUD IT, together with apsec, hosted the IT Security Forum in Annweiler.
The small circle of participants received an introduction into topics like „One day in the life of a CIO“ and „ The seven golden rules of Data Leakage Prevention”.
After the presentations, our head of sales Christiane Schnall gave a live demo of our solution fideAS^® file enterprise.
